If you sweat more
than the average person, you are not alone!
We can help you
understand and solve your
sweating problem and more
importantly
stop you sweating in 2 weeks to save those embarrassing
situations...
The reason behind
why we sweat is due to over activity in the symphethetic nervous
system. In 24 hours the average man sweats between 1 - 1.5 litres of
liquid though our sweat glands are more than capable of producing 12
litres of sweat in 1 day! In comparison an average person exercising
for 1 hour can lose up to 3 litres of liquid sweat.
If you consider that
we have between
3-4 million sweat glands throughout their bodies then the above
figures can become believable. However, you do not
have to be doing exercise to produce sweat. Even sitting down in a
cool, relaxed environment you produce half a litre of sweat a day as
it is an ongoing process.
For the record -
males
are sweatier than females!
Why do we have
sweat?
Sweat helps to keep
our skin moist and also helps
with our body temperature, we rely on the evaporation and producing
sweat to help protect our bodies against hot temperatures or being
in hot climates.
We all have 2 types
of sweat glands on our bodies. The first being
called apocrine glands these are mainly what we would know as our
scent glands. Found in the armpits and around the anus area. The
sweat that is produced has a particular odour in each person; this
unfortunately sends messages to other people. We have around 1
million of these glands.
The second gland we
all have is the Eccrine glands; these produce sweat when we are in
hot climates or when we become home naturally. This helps to cool
our bodies down, when reaching above a certain temperature. Did you
know we have around 3 million of these glands.
If you find you are
sweating a lot more than what you normally would you is now probably
thinking that you must have a lot more sweat glands but this could
be a number of things one of the main common reasons is that you
probably have a lot of activity in the tiny nerves that control them.
Do you have a
tendency to sweat more in social situations?
If this is the case
for you and you find chatting to your boss about something
very important for example or feeling under pressure, then this is
not a physical problem but more of a psychological one. If you sweat
excessively at normal times then you can
get help.
When we sense there
is a problem or fear we begin to panic and get hot which releases
sweat as we perspire.
Do you get woken up
at night from what you would call a 'hot flush'?
Sweating at night
is normal, if it is a hot summers evening it is to be
expected. But if it’s the middle of winter then it is not supposed
to happen, consult your GP just to have a general check up to be sure.

Sweating in
different areas
All of us suffer
from
sweating at some point in our lives and not all in the same
areas. Here you will find a list and explanations for the more
common areas we all sweat on our bodies.
Sweaty Hands
Getting sweaty
hands usually begins in early childhood and can get worse going into
teenage years and also when you are approaching adult hood.
Research has shown
that sweaty hand sufferers will find it also runs in there family as
40% of patients that have sweaty palms have discovered it is
genetic.
There isn't a cure
for sweaty palms unfortunately but a few tips on preventing/slowing
down the process of sweaty hands.
Sweaty Feet
People who are
suffering from sweaty hands will more than likely be suffering from
sweaty feet too. There are some benefits to having sweaty feet
instead of sweaty hands being that you would not notice being in
social situations of just talking or attending meetings. But when it
comes to maybe taking your shoes off round a friends or colleagues
house this is where it might notice due to an unwanted odour being
produced.
Sweaty feet can
cause a number of different problems such as ruining shoes not being
able to wear open toe shoes. You may also find you suffer quite a
lot to fungal infections. As many of our shows are closed without
air holes for our feet to breathe through the day/evening there is
no way of the odour escaping. Over a very short period of time the
smell can get bad so much so that it can become very uncontrollable.
With your feet
sweating and being in closed shoes they also warm so the sweat is
warm too this is not good as it can encourage the growth of fungi
which will then cause you serious problems and even in some cases of
getting athletes foot. This will add to the smell as well as
suffering from athlete’s foot.
First things first
get rid of all those nylon socks and synthetic socks. Buy yourself
some new ones with around 60% - 70% wool combined with 30% - 40% man
made fibre. Avoid purchasing socks which are 100% cotton as these
will not absorb sweat as well. Avoid buying 100% wool as these will
make your feet hotter and clammy
Make sure you get
the right size socks as tightness will not do you any favours. Most importantly
wear fresh clean socks every day.
Wearing your shows
everyday can make any persons feet sweaty just because they get hot
and clammy. So if you are to buy washable insoles wash them every
day this will help keep the freshness ion the sole.
The majority of
leather shoes often have plastic lining in them you do not want
plastic lining in your shoe. So aim to get leather lining in your
shoes or as we mentioned before buy some washable insoles.
Trainers may be
very comfortable for your feet but make ideal conditions for that
warm smelly odour. So try and just wear them for shorter periods of
time.
Sweaty underarm
Excessive sweating
under the armpits is probably the most annoying and embarrassing
problem area. But thankful it can be controlled and even sometimes
cured completely. There are natural remedies and treatments, also
things you can try at home. it may even be a very simple solution of
using a different or slightly stronger anti-perspirant. However if
these remedies do not seem to work for you it is best for you to go
and see your GP to give you advice on the next step you should take.
Woman or men
suffering from sweaty armpits could help by removing the hair under there! This is
a perfect place for the sweat and odour to get trapped. Removing
hair will help give your armpits more room for the air to circulate.
Try not to wear
tight clothing this does not help the airflow under your armpit
either or circulation so always go for a slightly loose fitting
under those arms.
Also dark clothes
how much the ladies love them they make us look slimmer but try to
avid wearing dark materials especially in the summer. Dark clothes
attract the heat causing you to sweat more. Just before you go
to bed wash and dry your armpits make sure you dry them thoroughly
afterwards.
Always wear
deodorant. Before trying any treatments or remedies at home, try
changing the brand of deodorant that you use. If your using a roll
on try and aerosol and vice versa.
